The Precision of the Left Bank
This is a wine of structure and "stony" intent. Sourced from the estate’s most prized Chardonnay blocks overlooking the Clutha River, the 2023 vintage is a masterclass in balance. Under the guidance of their Franco-Kiwi winemaking team, this wine captures the high-altitude intensity of Central Otago while maintaining a cool, flinty restraint. It is a sophisticated, "grown-up" Chardonnay for those who value tension and purity over heavy oak.
Appearance - Brilliant pale straw with a shimmering silver rim.
Nose - An elegant and focused bouquet. High-toned aromas of lemon zest, white nectarine, and grapefruit are underpinned by sophisticated notes of wet stones, white blossoms, and a hint of toasted almond.
Palate - Precise and "vertical." The entry is crisp and energetic, leading into a textured mid-palate of stone fruit and a subtle, creamy weight. It finishes with a long, saline, and mineral-driven "tug" that is characteristic of the Lowburn terraces.
Pairings - Ebi Teppanyaki, Hotate Shioyaki, Gindara Saikyo Yaki, Premium Tempura, Premium Chirashi.
Service - Serve at 11–13°C. Avoid serving it "ice-cold," as a bit of warmth allows the complex river-stone minerality and stone fruit layers to unfurl.
