The Time-Honored Tradition of Rioja
Bodegas Navajas is a family-run winery that remains fiercely dedicated to the traditional styles of Rioja. Their Reserva is a testament to patience, having undergone extensive aging in both American and French oak barrels followed by significant time in the bottle before release. This process transforms the primary Tempranillo fruit into a wine of incredible silkiness and aromatic complexity. It is a "classicist's" Rioja, offering the perfect balance of mature fruit and the iconic vanilla-spice notes that define the region’s best long-aged wines.
Appearance - Deep cherry red with a distinct tawny-orange rim indicating its maturity.
Nose - A rich and highly evolved bouquet. Fragrant aromas of stewed red berries and dried plums are beautifully interwoven with complex notes of vanilla, toasted coconut, leather, and sweet tobacco.
Palate - Medium-bodied and exceptionally smooth. The long aging process has polished the tannins to a velvety finish, supporting a core of mellow red fruit and savory spice. It finishes with remarkable length, leaving a lingering impression of balsamic, forest floor, and a touch of cocoa.
Pairings - Grilled Butabara, Iberico Pork Secreto, Beef Teriyaki, Wagyu Teppanyaki, Teppan Pork Jowl with Yuzu Kosho.
Service - Serve at 16–18°C. To fully appreciate the intricate secondary and tertiary aromas of a Reserva, give this wine 30 to 45 minutes to breathe in a decanter. This allows the "bottle funk" to dissipate and the elegant oak profile to shine.
