The Spirit of Central Otago
Crafted with biodynamic principles in the sub-region of Lowburn, the 2023 Explorer is a wine of exceptional purity and "crunch." While Central Otago is famous for its intense fruit concentration, Domaine Thomson’s style leans toward elegance and restraint, favoring the bright, floral side of Pinot Noir. This is a succulent, "energy-filled" red that perfectly captures the wild thyme and dark berry character of New Zealand’s premier Pinot region.
Appearance - A bright, translucent garnet with ruby highlights.
Nose - High-toned and aromatic. Expect a primary burst of black cherry and red plum, followed by the classic Central Otago "garrigue" note of wild thyme, dried herbs, and a touch of rose petal.
Palate - Juicy and vibrant. The palate is dominated by "crunchy" red fruits and a refreshing acidity that makes the mouth water. The tannins are supple and fine-grained, leading to a clean, uplifting finish with a hint of savory spice.

Service - Serve slightly chilled at 14–16°C. Keeping it on the cooler side emphasizes the wine’s "vibrant" acidity and red fruit aromatics.
